
Prestigious Trophy In Honor Of The Late Minister For Communications And Works – Paul P. Wattley Announced
Show Set For Saturday 31st July 2010
Road Town, Tortola, VI, 14 April, 2010: Capital Productions, the local group that has hosted the official Virgin Islands August Festival Car Show and Exhibition for the past ten years and is also known for its generosity to various charities throughout the VI, recently announced that they will be awarding another special trophy at the car show this year, in honor of the late Minister for Communications and Works, Honourable Paul P. Wattley.
Chairman of Capital Productions, David A. Abednego made the announcement and said the trophy will be awarded for high creativity and precision. “Participants have to pay attention to details, paint, presentation, creativity, and sound system. In other words, the presentation of the vehicle needs to be exemplary, since this is an extremely competitive category”.
Son of the late Honourable Paul P. Wattley, Dante Wattley, said he was delighted that Capital Productions had chosen to honor the memory of his dad again this year. Mr. Wattley also congratulated the group for its charitable work over the years.
Each year for the past ten years, Capital Productions has donated a portion of proceeds collected from the car show and other events to local charities.
Honourable Paul P. Wattley, a long time sponsor and supporter of the Annual Car Show and Exhibition over the years, passed away in July of 2005, while serving as Minister for Communications and Works.
Capital Productions’ signature event is its annual August Festival Car Show and Exhibition. This has become the largest and most anticipated event on the VI Festival lineup. Car owners from Tortola, Virgin Gorda, St. Croix, St. John,
St. Thomas and Jost van Dyke will participate. MECA International Car Show Judges will be the main judges of the show, and have listed the VI on its lineup of Auto Shows World Wide. Additionally, by popular demand, some of the VI finest power boats will be on exhibition.
In the coming weeks Capital Productions will announce its 2010 sponsors and contributors and will also shortly launch the 2010 Platinum sponsor, as well as the entertainment lineup. The 2010 Annual Car Show and Exhibition is scheduled for Saturday, 31 July from 1:00pm until at the Old Recreation Grounds/Soft Ball field in Long Bush, and this year the Car Show and Exhibition is dubbed; ‘The King Of All Car Shows’.

Boats Will Be On Display
Road Town, Tortola, VI, March 2010: All eyes remain on the return of the most popular August Festival event, the annual Car Show and Exhibition scheduled for Saturday 31st, July, 2010. The show will take place on the Old Recreation Grounds, also known as the Long Bush Soft Ball Field in Road Town. Capital Productions Chairman, David A. Abednego said that the responses, so far from car and boat owners have been over whelming, since the return of the Car Show and Exhibition is by popular demand.
This year cars will participate from St. Croix, St. John, St. Thomas, Tortola, Virgin Gorda and for the first time from Jost Van Dyke.
A new feature this year will be the showcase of some ten (10) of the finest power boats in the Virgin Islands.
Mr. Abednego said this will bring the diversity to the show as Capital Productions is aware of the many families with boats who are eager to display their prime treasures.
Car owners this year can expect the usual very generous prizes of overseas trips, dinners and lunches at some of the finest restaurants, stay-vacations at some of the top rated hotels in the Virgin Islands, trophies and cash, to name a few of the many, many prizes.
Capital Productions will be making a big announcement next month as to its platinum sponsor, a coveted position every year.
This year, Capital Productions will be celebrating eleven (11) years of the annual Car Show and Exhibition, an important feature of the Emancipation Celebration line up.
For the past 10 years, Capital Productions has donated some eighty thousand dollars ($80,000.00) to local charities including collaborations with other organizations.
